AWS has more than 1 million active customers and five times as much cloud infrastructure as next top 14 providers combined, the company said. AWS’ third-quarter revenue grew more than 40% year over year.
In the third quarter, data transfer to and from Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3) increased 137% year over year—not including Amazon use.
Elastic Cloud Compute (EC2) instance hours were up 99% year-over-year. A new custom Intel Xeon E5 v3 processor will power Amazon’s EC2 instances.
The AWS Marketplace consists of 1,900 software products spanning 23 different categories sold across 190 countries. Customers consume 70 million hours of AWS Marketplace software each month.
The AWS Partner Network (APN) program has grown more than 75% in the past year. There are now also 28 premier consulting partners in APN.
AWS now has an AWS Channel Reseller Program, the APN Competency Program, an AWS Direct Connect Program, an AWS Government Partner Program, an AWS Managed Service Program and an AWS SaaS Partner Program.
AWS will fund up to half of professional services fees for eligible Advanced and Premier Partners, and all their AWS usage fees for eligible proof-of-concept projects. APN Partners get free usage credits for solution development, as well as marketing benefits.
AWS Certification Prep Bootcamp will help partners meet new APN certification requirements in 2015. AWS Professional Services Bootcamp will help Premier Consulting Partners learn best practices and methodologies from AWS. Windows on AWS Bootcamp will help partners learn to migrate and run Windows-based products and applications.
Partners gain access to AWS financial expertise. A free online AWS total cost of ownership (TCO) and cloud economics accreditation course is designed to help partners provide their customers with guidance on TCO and cloud economics. AWS also provides automated CRM capabilities, a marketing dashboard with analytics, and sales and marketing enablement programs.
