AirVM Intros New Cloud Management Platform

Cloud management platform company AirVM unveiled AirSembly 2.0, a turnkey cloud management platform designed to enable cloud service providers to customize and integrate to speed delivery of VMware-based cloud services. Aimed at VMware vCloud Air Network Managed Service Providers (MSPs), AirSembly 2.0 features a new user interface (UI) and support for VMware vCloud Air.

AirVM said the new platform can enable MSPs to reduce time-to-revenue by an average of 60 percent while increasing operational efficiency. The company also announced Rackspace as a service provider partner to help expand Rackspace Private Cloud powered by VMware vCloud, and has closed $8 million in Series A funding.

OnApp Intros Portal for VMware vCloud Air Network Service Providers

OnApp announced a new version of its Web and mobile portal for VMware vCloud Air Network service providers. The new portal, based on the new v4.1 of the OnApp Cloud platform, gives service providers a highly configurable, enterprise-grade front end for cloud services based on VMware vCloud Director 5.6 and 8.0, vCloud Air and vCenter. OnApp v4.1 improves cloud management, provisioning and billing for service providers running vCloud Director 5.6 and 8.0, vCloud Air and vCenter.

IBM Enhances Spectrum Storage Software Offerings

IBM is adding new cloud features to two IBM Spectrum Storage software offerings as part of the company’s investment in software-defined storage. IBM Spectrum Protect adds new cloud backup to help companies reduce backup infrastructure costs, and IBM Spectrum Accelerate is now available as a service on IBM Cloud via SoftLayer. In the fourth quarter of 2015, IBM Spectrum Protect will be offered as an option on the IBM/Cisco VersaStack “data center in a box” solutions, adopted by MSPs for faster delivery and implementation.

Arrow Expands Chain-of-Custody Services for IT Asset Disposition

Arrow Electronics is now offering Retire-IT’s certified chain-of-custody services to customers of Arrow’s Value Recovery business. The business works with customers to securely refurbish electronic devices for additional use or to repurpose their parts for other uses.

Arrow said it has always provided secure chain-of-custody options to its customers. The Retire-IT collaboration provides Arrow’s Value Recovery customers who need a highly secure chain-of-custody with the option of using a third-party provider to verify that all their IT assets are accounted for throughout the shipping and refurbishment processes.

Retire-IT provides proprietary tracking software that can instantly verify the custody of a specific IT asset, which automates the inventory-reconciliation process, the company said.

Cloud Cruiser Intros CloudSmart-Now

Cloud Cruiser, a provider of software solutions for hybrid cloud analytics, unveiled an offering designed to allow customers to track hybrid cloud usage by user and costs with built-in analytics. CloudSmart-Now is a set of out-of-the-box, preconfigured templates with built-in workflow to collect detailed usage and cost data from Amazon Web Services (AWS), Azure, Windows Azure Pack (WAP), VMware and Openstack.

Cloud Cruiser solves the same business problem for both enterprise users and the channel—those providing cloud services or reselling cloud services, said Cloud Cruiser. Cloud Cruiser is architected for multi-tenancy.

Jenne Adds Two Cloud Solutions Vendors

Jenne, a value-added distributor, expanded its cloud solutions portfolio by adding two cloud vendors—Alert Logic and Mitel. Jenne’s resellers will be able to sell Alert Logic’s security and compliance solutions for the cloud, including security-as-a-service solutions for on-premises, cloud and hybrid infrastructures, and Mitel’s MiCloud hosted business communication portfolio.

SoftNAS Delivers Multi-Tenant NAS for Service Providers

SoftNAS, a provider of software-based NAS in the cloud, unveiled SoftNAS, a multi-tenant NAS for service providers. The offering provides full NAS functionality, security and performance while enabling the use of iSCSI and object storage to lower overall storage costs, said the company.

Service providers can deploy the product as a dedicated virtual NAS appliance for specific customers or as a multi-tenant appliance shared across many customers. Service providers pay only for storage used through consumption-based, metered licensing.
