Spending on the public cloud is increasing as more companies are committing to public clouds for enterprise applications, including ERP and CRM.
85% of IT pros polled believe it is valuable to share cloud consumption metrics with the business.
While only 43% of IT pros share consumption and cost information with business users, this is up from 37% in 2014.
42% of IT pros continue to find it difficult to properly allocate public cloud usage and costs to the correct organization or project.
In 2015, 62% of respondents said they use AWS for software development and testing, followed by enterprise applications (46%) and sandbox for testing public cloud offerings (30%).
But enterprise application—ERP/CRM/HR/email—use in the public cloud jumped from 38% in 2014 to 46% in 2015.
61% of respondents expect to increase their use of AWS.
IT pros planning to use other cloud environments than AWS decreased in 2015. Microsoft Azure Cloud dropped from 34% in 2014 to 31% in 2015, and Google Cloud Platform decreased from 26% in 2014 to 13% in 2015.
IT pros planning to use internal private cloud fell from 38% in 2014 to 27% in 2015. Those not planning to use alternative cloud platforms rose from 27% in 2014 to 43% in 2015.
