Recently, SonicWall announced that it would be partnering with CrowdStrike to deliver a new Managed Detection and Response (MDR) offering to bring enterprise-grade security to small- and medium-sized businesses (SMBs).

SonicWall and CrowdStrike bring together services and products

SonicWall’s trusted Managed Security Services (MSS) combines with CrowdStrike’s Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) capabilities from the CrowdStrike Falcon cybersecurity platform in this solution, providing scalable AI-native security solutions for MSPs serving SMBs.

Through the offering, CrowdStrike’s AI-powered endpoint protection, detection, and response will combine with SonicWall’s 24/7 Security Operations Center (SOC). The new MDR offering will provide MSPs with resources to safeguard SMBs.

“We’re thrilled to partner with CrowdStrike to deliver SMBs the best of both worlds: Industry-leading AI-native endpoint security and the trusted, expert-managed services that SonicWall is known for,” said SonicWall CEO and President Bob VanKirk, in a press release. “This collaboration underscores SonicWall’s commitment to empowering MSPs with the right blend of advanced security tools, expert support, and streamlined processes, enabling them to protect their SMB customers effectively and efficiently in today’s evolving threat landscape.”

Among the key benefits for the solution include:

  • SonicWall’s SOC will provide 24/7 monitoring to proactively notify MSPs of potential issues and take immediate threat mitigation actions. Made up of cybersecurity experts, the SOC team analyzes patterns of behavior to identify when an alert may signal a larger attack or problem.
  • CrowdStrike’s single-agent EDR tool takes an adversary-driven approach to uncover elusive threats and deliver high-quality detections while also minimizing false positive threat notifications.
  • The SOC team will review the configuration of all the endpoints using the MDR service twice per month and provide a letter grade, highlighting any issues and needed updates, helping to avoid configuration mistakes.
  • Rather than annual contracts, SonicWall offers month-to-month contracts.
  • There are no minimum endpoints required to utilize SonicWall’s MDR for CrowdStrike and it’s simple to scale up or down as needed based on business demand, alleviating the worry over paying for licenses not in use.

“SonicWall’s large SMB presence and their long-standing commitment to supporting MSPs make this partnership a natural fit,” said Daniel Bernard, CrowdStrike chief business officer. “Together, we are providing MSPs with the solutions to deliver scalable, effective AI-powered cybersecurity that is easy to deploy and tailored to the unique needs of SMBs. This partnership underscores CrowdStrike’s mission to stop breaches and secure organizations of all sizes.”

According to SonicWall, their MDR solution gives their clients peace of mind with a team of defenders using industry-leading security tools that aim to proactively mitigate cyber threats to keep their businesses protected and running.

MDR tools are critical to cybersecurity strategies for enterprises. Going into 2025, there are several options to consider for monitoring, threat detection, and incident response that you can read more of here.
