Always-on operations, without the weekend downtime
One of the biggest headaches in enterprise IT is scheduling maintenance windows that don’t disrupt business. Power11 sidesteps that completely with automated patching and intelligent workload movement. System updates happen in the background, so there’s no need to take applications offline.
“…we are very interested in faster and more frequent maintenance updates with no planned downtime to keep the servers secure, stable, and current, so our team can focus on delivering benefits and services for better health,” shared William Allarey, senior IT manager, GuideWell.
Built-in acceleration for real AI workloads
Power11 is also ready for what’s next, especially when it comes to AI. Later this year, IBM will roll out the Spyre Accelerator, a chip designed to offload complex AI tasks, such as large language model inference. That means increased speed, efficiency, and reduced strain on the core system.
“This will enable seamless AI integration into existing applications and workflows running on Power and deploy a broader range of AI use cases,” said Chris Drake, senior research director, IDC, in a recent whitepaper.
Built-in cyber resilience
Power11 also kicks security up a notch. It includes IBM Power Cyber Vault, which helps detect ransomware threats in under a minute and recover quickly using immutable snapshots. It follows the NIST framework and ships with quantum-safe cryptography, a growing priority for enterprises in terms of long-term data protection.
