Global MSP XTIUM announced this week it would formally expand into the EMEA market, with its European HQ in the Netherlands. We spoke with President and CEO Russ Reeder and Managing Director of XTIUM EMEA Leon Schuurmans about the news.
Global MSP unifies offerings across the continent following merger
The announcement marks a formal entry into a market that the company already supports. Following the successful business combination of ATSG and Evolve IP earlier this year, the company is expanding its comprehensive suite of managed IT services to direct customers throughout the EMEA region.
Evolve IP previously operated in EMEA through an acquisition of its own called Mtel. Now, with a formalized launch of its entire services portfolio across the region, XTIUM is celebrating a milestone in its mission to scale its services under a unified brand.
“Our vision is to build a next-level services business. The rate of change in tech is just chaotic, and businesses need to focus on running their business, and not trying to keep up,” Reeder said. “Having that premium partnership, where they can rely on us, that’s what we’re building.”
“In the managed services world, many companies have scaled, and we are one of the larger MSPs globally, and they’ve grown through acquisition. What we’ve done is really integrated those businesses to make sure there are no siloes and our teams are working together globally, so we can continue to deliver on those promises to customers,” Reeder continued.
European customers who previously received unified communications and contact center services from Evolve IP will now benefit from XTIUM’s expanded service portfolio, which includes cybersecurity solutions and Desktop as a Service (DaaS), launching in 2025. This will be followed by Gartner-recognized network management services and managed help desk solutions in 2026.
“We provide hassle-free services and there’s no finger-pointing between vendors, because we take full responsibility and accountability of what we offer,” said Schuurmans. “There’s a lot of opportunity to now serve our customers with XTIUM’s IT services and become a true, integrated MSP for them.”
How XTIUM approaches regional needs and supports varied client needs
For Reeder, who has led several MSPs and channel vendors through periods of global growth, it is crucial to come to regional markets with localized expertise.
“We’re not trying to grow in Europe with an American attitude, we’re growing with a Euopean team and their experience,” said Reeder. “We are a truly global company, and we have teams all around the world to now support these clients. We can add scale to the XTIUM EMEA team… and they have a global team backing them up.”
“We support not just American businesses in Europe but also EMEA multinationals, too. We are really invested in EMEA, but of course there’s a really strong benefit for global companies to work with us, because we can support them in all the regions they are active,” Schuurmans added.
Schuurmans notes the provider has worked with leading analysts and its internal experts to assess the market opportunities for its various services and technology offerings.
“We asked those analysts, what is the potential for DaaS, for managed help desk, in Europe. You see a lot of differences between countries when it comes to adoption, some are more savvy to adopt than others,” Schuurmans said. “We’ve got a clear picture of where we should target which services first. People say that the US is a frontrunner in many aspects, and that is true, but the Netherlands and the UK are also very tech savvy, also the Scandinavian countries, and then there are some that will need a little encouragement.”
From a broader trends perspective, both leaders see tightening budgets and macroeconomic concerns pushing customers towards vendor consolidation. At the same time, the end-of-life deadlines for Windows 10 and the ongoing demand for AI and security solutions align with XTIUM’s offerings in DaaS and other key solutions.
“With security especially, companies need to think with a global mindset, because the threat actors are global,” added Schuurmans. “Every company need to be ready for cyber attacks, and we provide a great global service to protect from attacks.”
All of this means the provider is well-positioned in every market to meet the needs of customers of all sizes.
Reeder also emphasizes the importance of deliberately integrating acquired companies in building XTIUM, a key aspect for him and his team.
“There are so many MSPs that are not going to be able to scale until they structure the business to be one business, and not different siloed divisions of every acquisition,” Reeder said.”We always talk about delivering on our promise to customers, and we can’t do that without a system behind the scenes.”
