Oracle unveiled a more robust and thorough partner solutions catalog Oct. 23, enhancing and streamlining the process for customers and partners searching the software maker’s growing list of ISV solutions.
The Oracle PartnerNetwork Solutions Catalog, unveiled at Oracle’s OpenWorld user conference enables searches based on specific attributes such as vertical expertise, solution type, product, customer size and location. Users may also identify partners who have validated integrations between Oracle Applications and partner solutions, as well as partners building on Service Oriented Architectures or Grid technology.
The catalog is to be the foundation of a year-long effort to put the company’s ISV ecosystem and partners front and center in the applications space, said Doug Kennedy, vice president of Worldwide Alliances and Channels, in an interview with ChannelInsider.
The catalog will allow the company to represent relevant solutions instead of products and skill sets, he said.
“If you are going to convince customers, you want to go in with the right partner to make the connection,” Kennedy said. “If I have a legal firm and I am used to using Google, I want to find an Oracle solution on Google with a partner that knows legal firms.”
The catalog has three audiences: Customers; Oracle sales personnel, who will find those relevant partners and solutions without “20 phone calls,” Kennedy said; and partners, who can identify other resellers and ISVs to partner with or identify open vertical or regional markets.
Previous incarnations of the catalog were cumbersome and useless, Kennedy said.
The current version, built on Oracle Fusion Middleware, is relying on partners to populate the relies on partners to populate the portal with data and the company has launched a campaign to pull them into the effort, the company said.
