Following its $6 million round of seed funding in March 2023, cloud management platform emma has successfully closed on a $17 million Series A funding round, bringing its total funding to $23 million in two years.
The round, led by venture capital firm Smartfin, will help expand emma’s product development, accelerate go-to-market efforts, and enhance customer success initiatives. RTP Global is also among the investors.
“At emma, we’re shaping the future of cloud operations. As businesses grow, they need the freedom to scale across any provider without limitations,” said emma CEO, Dmitry Panenkov. “We’re building the standards to make cloud-agnostic operations a reality. This funding accelerates our mission to give companies the control and flexibility they need to optimize across all environments.”
Funding innovation in cloud management
According to the company, this new infusion of cash will allow for continued innovation and allow emma to bring new features to the platform. The company said it will work on several projects, including AI accelerators, enhanced security, broader cloud integrations, and more robust automation capabilities.
“emma is addressing one of the most critical challenges for modern enterprises: managing and optimizing complex multi-cloud environments,” said Harry Haeck, a partner at Smartfin. “By combining automation, cost visibility, and actionable insights into a single platform, emma offers a unique approach to cloud management, enabling businesses to focus on innovation instead of infrastructure. At Smartfin, we are proud to partner with a transformative company that is leading the way in smarter, more agile cloud strategies for enterprises worldwide.
The cloud management platform company also intends to establish a new research and development center in Luxembourg, its headquarters, to support product development and address the increasing demands of their growing customer base.
Further, the funding will enable emma to expand its reach into the US market to meet the demand for multi-cloud management solutions.
“More businesses are turning to multicloud solutions than ever before as they reassess what is best for their workload,” said the chief technology officer at RTP Global Jelmer de Jong. “emma’s holistic platform empowers customers to create a cloud environment that best reflects their needs, allowing them to work with any provider and environment without compromise. We see the impact the company is making in the market through the platform’s continued growth since Seed funding and look forward to maintaining our relationship as emma continues to enhance its offering even further.”
emma’s multi-cloud management platform
The emma platform offers an end-to-end approach that enables organizations to design, manage, and optimize virtual environments in an easy and cloud-agnostic way. It is geared towards helping organizations simplify the management of their multi-cloud environments, with capabilities for both organizations who are new to multi-cloud and those looking to optimize their existing multi-cloud deployments.
It also provides a unified interface for managing workloads across multiple cloud providers, such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, and other more niche or regional cloud providers, like Alibabab or Scaleway.
Among its features to help users manage multi-cloud infrastructure are unified management, no-code provisioning, cost optimization, and security and compliance. These features help reduce complexity, increase efficiency, improve security, and reduce costs.
When it comes to utilizing the cloud, migrating to those environments takes a measured approach to determine how and which tools to use. Read more about the best cloud migration tools for the transition.
