Security specialist Trend Micro announced the latest version of its Worry Free Business Security solution, version 7, which adds an email data loss prevention (DLP) feature designed to help small businesses keep information private by discovering, monitoring and preventing accidental or deliberate loss of confidential information through email. Integrated Mac client protection allows businesses to secure iMacs, Mac Servers and MacBooks without purchasing or managing additional solutions for their Windows-based devices.

Worry-Free Business Security 7 is expected to be available this month, with per user pricing varying by seat count. For a 1-year license of Worry-Free Business Security Standard, the 2-25 seat level is $37.75 per user.  For a 1-year license of Worry-Free Business Security Advanced, the 2-25 seat level is $62.02 per user. Worry-Free Remote Manager support will be available alongside Worry-Free Business Security 7, a company release said.

Worry-Free Business Security 7 is available in two editions: Standard and Advanced. The standard edition protects Windows PCs, notebooks, and servers. The advanced edition protects everything the standard edition protects, as well as Mac clients and servers, and Exchange servers. The advanced edition also includes multi-layer anti-spam and email data loss prevention.

"Many small businesses think of security as a burden because of cost and complexity. But in reality security is an enabler of advanced capabilities that can then be delivered safely to on-site and remote workers,” said Ray Boggs, vice president of small to medium-size business (SMB) research with IT analytics firm IDC. “By helping to simplify and manage comprehensive security resources, Trend Micro will improve the ability of small businesses to address internal and external threats — threats that might otherwise slow the adoption of advanced technology needed to stay competitive."

Trend Micro noted one of the most notorious threats in 2010, Conficker, was partly spread by infected USB sticks and other attachable devices, and its convenience and portability has made it another infection pathway. Small businesses that are challenged with managing and tracking the movements of USB devices can now, with Business Security 7’s device control feature, control access to USB drives and other attached devices to prevent data loss and block threats. Businesses can also restrict access to USB ports to avoid anyone copying information to portable USB drives.

"Among our small business customers, we’re seeing a growing demand for data loss prevention solutions that doesn’t require an overburdening of computer and IT resources,” said Dave Ladley, president of Communications Finance, Inc. “We’re pleased to see email data loss prevention, as well as Mac-client protection and device control introduced within this latest version. Trend Micro continues to ‘recreate’ Worry-Free Business Security, always keeping in mind the needs of small businesses."
