Xerox Corp. is aiming at small to medium-size businesses (SMBs) looking to create professional-looking documents without busting budgets with two printers and a multifunction printer (MFP) designed to deliver high-quality color in a compact package. The Phaser 6010 and Phaser 6500 color printer along with the WorkCentre 6505 color multifunction printer, are also all Energy Star qualified and employ the company’s Emulsion Aggregate (EA) toner technology combined with 600 x 600 x 4 dpi resolution

The Phaser 6010 color printer, which retails for $299, prints speeds as fast as 12 pages per minute (ppm) for color and 15 ppm for black and white, while it’s compact form factor and light weight makes it ideally suited for space-constrained small and home offices. In addition, its plug-and-play setup and can handle a variety of custom media and sizes, from labels and card stock to envelopes.

The Phaser 6500 color printer ($399) and WorkCentre 6505 color multifunction printer ($649) boast print speeds of 24 ppm in color and black and white, and have a paper capacity up to 500 sheets. Both appliances operate with small, high-capacity cartridges that help save on storage space and produce up to 80 percent less waste than comparable color devices, according to information released by Xerox.

In addition, the WorkCentre 6505 adds copy, scan, fax and digital workflow capabilities and helps companies manage documents with features like scan to email, network scanning, direct scan to applications including optical character recognition, and a scan to USB memory device. The Phaser 6010, Phaser 6500 and WorkCentre 6505 are available immediately worldwide through Xerox resellers, dealers and concessionaires

“The key to growth for any business is attracting and retaining customers. For a small business, that means making a big impression while spending less,” said Carl Bothner, vice president and general manager, indirect channels business group for Xerox Corp. “These new color products give SMBs an affordable and easy way to create the same impactful color documents as larger enterprises.”

EA toner is chemical toner prepared by emulsion aggregation, or a chemical process used to “grow” very small, uniform particle sizes from even smaller (sub-micron) size toner components. Emulsion refers to the synthetic chemical process to form latex toner resin and aggregation means to bring the toner ingredient’s particles together to form the desired particle size and spherical shape.
