FinOps platform vendor Vantage last week announced a new, built-for-MSPs solution aimed at helping MSPs and their customers monitor and analyze their cloud spend. Vantage for MSPs was announced by the company on August 20 and includes single-platform visibility into all clients, customizable billing tools, and “partner-friendly” pricing, along with all the capabilities built into the platform.

A new tool built to capture existing demand

For Vantage, this new program formalizes an already existing relationship between the company, MSPs and other channel partners, and end user businesses.

“We saw MSPs using Vantage because of the efficiency we provide, but the partners were forced to set up individual accounts and platforms for each of their clients, and it was extremely inefficient for them,” said Ben Schaechter, co-founder and CEO of Vantage. “So we launched this product to serve our existing MSPs and target new partnerships as well.”

MSPs can now manage all customer accounts from a single portal and have access to new billing functionalities. The Vantage team also offers free migration support for partners looking to switch to Vantage from competitors like CloudHealth or CloudCheckr.

Visibility into spend, usage of infrastructure increasingly necessary

Schaechter co-founded Vantage with Brooke McKim in 2020. The platform collects and analyzes data from a business’ infrastructure usage analytics and can track costs over time. Additionally, the Vantage platform can offer resource reports and detailed reporting on usage, network visibility, and unusual changes in spending patterns.

Schaechter highlighted what he described as a “market correction” over the last few years, which has encouraged increased scrutiny on how companies are approaching technology projects and considering spend in relation to tighter budgets and a slower adoption model. FinOps, according to Schaechter, will only continue to grow in popularity over the next several years.

“Our customers use Vantage to drive efficiency,” Schaechter said. “Cloud costs are often right behind people costs in terms of expenses a business has to address, and being able to track and analyze usage creates efficient spend on cloud.”

A priority for the Vantage team, as seen in the over 15 integrations available in the platform, is to provide a tool that organizations can use regardless of their infrastructure configuration. As more businesses embrace multi-cloud architecture, Schaecter sees a need for one platform that works across multiple providers.

Multi-cloud, GenAI adoption accelerate FinOps demand

Vantage supports the major hyperscalers, namely Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud, but also offers functionality with Snowflake, Oracle, Kubernetes, Confluent, and more. Schaechter expects Vantage to add a new integration monthly. This includes the recent addition of OpenAI analysis to the platform, which allows MSPs and their customers to view GenAI spend and track usage across the enterprise.

“AI is becoming a significant portion of business spend, and we think businesses should be able to track that spend the same way they understand their other cloud spending habits,” said Schaechter, who also noted that GPU efficiency and return on investment (ROI) for AI implementation are becoming increasingly important areas of focus.

Schaecter said Vantage will continue to center the needs of its customers as it continues to build a product roadmap that ultimately aims to provide objective recommendations to companies concerning efficient cloud spend, including when and where it might be best to migrate their infrastructure to a new provider. They also want to eventually build capabilities to facilitate those migrations.
