Mobile device and scanner manufacturer CiperhLab and POS printer vendor Star Micronics today unveiled a bundled mobile solution for VARs looking to go after the public safety, healthcare, retail and logistics industries. The packaged solution combines Cipher’s Windows CE mobile computer with Star Micronics four-inch Point of Service printer and is available exclusively through distributor Bluestar.
According to CipherLab, VARS looking for packaged printing and mobile solutions will not find many available on the market today. A CipherLab spokesperson said, “There are few if any POS printer and handheld mobile computer company manufacturers that we are aware of to offer a pre-packaged bundled offering.”
The bundled solution aims to eliminate the need for large computing hardware for mobile workers by enabling mobile employees to perform critical enterprise processes that include data capture and printing. The CipherLab and Star Micronics products are certified to work together.
“A police officer can issue a citation on the spot, saving them a back-and-forth trip to their patrol car. And when the officer returns to their vehicle, a paper citation will already be printed and ready to go,” said Al Crawford, Vice President of Technology at CipherLab
Distributor Blue Star points to time saved and money earned as significant benefits to VARs looking at the packaged solution.
“The fact that we offer a pre-tested, turn-key, integrated mobile computer and printer solution reduces the time and resources end-users need to choose the right products for their business while helping resellers add to their bottom line,” said Rob Dorsey, Vice President of U.S. sales at Blue Star.
