Global provider in critical infrastructure protection, OPSWAT, recently announced the launch of MetaDefender Drive with Smart Touch, a portable cybersecurity device for secure scanning of transient cyber assets in air-gapped environments.
Handheld device addresses network compromise risks
The cybersecurity device enables security teams to defend against cyberattacks, thereby preventing downtime and ensuring uninterrupted operations.
MetaDefender Drive with Smart Touch is a handheld device with physical connectivity controls to eliminate the risk of network-based compromise during operation. It enables organizations to proactively scan and validate transient assets, including vendor laptops, contractor devices, and other critical devices, ensuring they are threat-free before being introduced into secure environments.
Powered by OPSWAT’s Metascan Multiscanning technology, the device leverages up to seven anti-malware engines, file-based vulnerability assessment, proactive data loss prevention (DLP), and country-of-origin detection.
It also includes boot-level analysis for a deep inspection of cyber assets, features a simple touch interface that requires no installation, and is easy to use in high-security, air-gapped facilities.
“By combining our advanced multiscanning and data sanitization technologies in a handheld form factor, we’re giving critical infrastructure operators the best of both worlds—uncompromising security and the operational flexibility to enable operations anywhere independent of connectivity,” said Itay Glick, the vice president of products, OPSWAT. “With seamless integration into My OPSWAT Central Management, organizations can centrally monitor and update the MetaDefender Drive with Smart Touch remotely, ensuring every transient and critical asset is verified and safe for use.”
MetaDefender Drive with Smart Touch is now available through OPSWAT and its authorized partners worldwide, offering both U.S.-made and global models.
OPSWAT’s big summer
This new device announcement comes just a few months after OPSWAT announced a partnership in July of this year to further enhance security.
OPSWAT and SentinelOne, an AI-powered cybersecurity platform, are teaming up on an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) partnership to integrate SentinelOne’s capabilities into OPSWAT’s Metascan Multiscanning technology, which powers the MetaDefender Drive with Smart Touch.
“Our collaboration with OPSWAT reflects a shared commitment to strengthening cybersecurity through innovation,” said Melissa K. Smith, the VP of strategic technology partnerships and initiatives at SentinelOne at the time. “Integrating SentinelOne’s AI detections strengthens Metascan’s multilayered defense, giving our customers faster, smarter protection against today’s most sophisticated threats.”
The collaboration allows both enterprises to combat modern cyber threats with improved precision and speed, with enhanced malware detection protection across all platforms.
SentinelOne also recently made moves to address shadow AI and meet demand for protection across AI tools. Read more about SentinelOne’s acquisition of Prompt Security to secure GenAI use.
