Wyse
Technology, a provider of cloud client computing, announced it acquired
Trellia, a specialist in cloud-based mobile infrastructure management. The
Trellia solution suite provides Wyse, its customers and partners with a suite
of cloud-based mobile security, device, app and expense management software
solutions. Trellia adds a specific set of technology IP and expertise to
present and future Wyse infrastructure management software solutions aimed at
helping organizations speed deployment of cloud client computing.

The
Trellia acquisition brings Wyse’s infrastructure management strategy to a new
level by delivering a broad set of capabilities. IT research firm IDC is
forecasting the virtual client computing market to top $3.2 billion by 2014, as
more organizations are adopting desktop virtualization and desktop as a service
(DaaS). Beyond the pure and outdated mobile device management (MDM) solutions,
Wyse plans to deliver secure cloud-based mobile infrastructure and content
management, supporting a range of users, content types, apps and devices at
home, at work or on the go.

"As
the global leader in cloud client computing, in addition to our market-leading
desktop virtualization hardware and software portfolio, now we are 100 percent
focused on providing a comprehensive portfolio of intelligent software
solutions to manage, secure and provision mobile users, their content, their
apps, their devices and the associated expense from the cloud," said
Tarkan Maner, president and CEO of Wyse. "Trellia shares Wyse’s vision and
passion in creating a frictionless working experience via the cloud. We
will extend the benefits of software as a service (SaaS) to intelligent mobile
infrastructure and content management unlike any other vendor in the market."

Wyse
cloud application PocketCloud delivers user and content management as a
service, enabling users to securely access work and personal assets from a
secure personal cloud. According to recent reports, mobile security
exploits are on track to double year over year between 2010 and 2011 and yet IT
managers are doing less today to secure mobile devices. Trellia’s
cloud-based policy, compliance, app and device management portfolio delivers
endpoint protection for customers, extending the security benefits offered
through Wyse’s cloud client computing portfolio.

"Business
users are quickly embracing smartphones and tablets and making them one
additional window into corporate applications and content; but their IT
counterparts must now find tools to effectively secure and manage them,"
said Giovanni Forte, CEO at Trellia. "The integration of Trellia with a
fast-growing global leader like Wyse will enable organizations to cost
effectively deploy and embrace new mobile devices in the enterprise with the
highest level of security, all integrated into their current cloud client
computing strategies."
