Scale Computing used its Platform//2026 Summit to position its expanded edge computing platform alongside new partner growth opportunities as it looks to move beyond its roots in virtualization.

In an interview at the event, President and COO Mark Cree outlined how the company is evolving into a full-stack edge provider spanning compute, networking, security, and containerization, with a focus on helping partners deliver more integrated solutions and drive cross-selling opportunities.

Why Scale Computing is focusing on integrated solutions

The shift reflects broader changes in how edge infrastructure is being deployed, as organizations move away from repurposing traditional data center technologies and toward purpose-built systems designed for distributed, real-time workloads.

“I think there’s a big opportunity in the edge because the edge has been usually serviced by customers to build data center products, and they just push a smaller version of what they have up to the edge, but it’s not really form fit or customized for the edge,” said Cree.

“What we’re seeing is that traditional scale products really can’t effectively get to the edge because they need more compute and processing than most edge applications require. So what we’ve built is basically a purpose-built solution for the edge.”

Platform unifies compute, network, security, and containerization

Scale is an organization that seeks to differentiate itself through a comprehensive, integrated edge portfolio that spans compute, networking, security, and containerization.

The organization offers a full-stack edge offering, and its competitive advantage lies in the breadth of its capabilities.

“We’ve built a portfolio of solutions that are tailored for the edge,” Cree said. “We have managed firewall service, a managed network service, and a containerized service with APIs you can tie into. The reality is, while we compete with some companies at certain points, nobody has the breadth we do across the full stack.”

The channel angle: how partners can leverage a platform mindset to grow service opportunities

At Scale Computing’s Platform//2026 Summit, the organization announced the launch of its Velocity Partner Program. It, like other programs available across the channel, is focused on incentivizing growth for MSPs, resellers, and other partners.

“We put a modern spin on a traditional item,” Scale Computing Global Channel Chief Kyle Fenske told Channel Insider.

“We wanted to roll something out that didn’t just mimic what was done time and time again in the industry. We wanted to build something that could grow with us … to make sure the partner program can grow and evolve to meet the needs that the partners essentially have,” Fenske said.

Cree told Channel Insider he believes partners should move beyond point solutions and adopt a platform mindset, as customers increasingly demand integrated, end-to-end solutions.

He adds that there is a clear opportunity for partners to establish themselves in edge computing by leveraging a complete platform rather than stitching together multiple vendors.

Further, a unified platform simplifies delivery for partners and allows them to meet a wider range of customer requirements without complexity.

“A point solution gets you in the door, but eventually these customers have an appetite for a whole lot more,” Cree explained. “That’s really why we put this together – to give the partner who wants to go out and build an edge practice a one-stop shop to fulfill the customer ask.”

‘One-stop shop’ aims to bring increased flexibility to customers and channel partners

Cree said that the company has built a one-stop shop for partners so they don’t have to piece together different solutions.

“The advice I would give is to look at companies like ours – we’ve been out there for over a decade and understand the customer asks,” said Cree. “The big challenge is knowing what customers actually need, and that comes from experience across many deployments.”

In the next 12 months, Scale Computing will implement a common control plane that lets customers pick and choose what they want. It’s not an either-or model; instead, it allows partners to turn on the capabilities they need, offering significant flexibility.

Additionally, by evolving from a single-product vendor into a full-edge platform provider, Scale Computing is creating significant cross-selling and growth opportunities for partners.

“We’re becoming a one-stop shop for edge computing. What used to be a simple virtualization product is now a full platform with multiple capabilities,” said Cree. “For the channel, that means significant cross-selling opportunities and a much broader value proposition.”
