Interest in mobile-application development has never been greater, but no matter how great the mobile application, it still needs to connect to something to achieve maximum business value.

With that issue in mind, Art Landro, the new CEO of Sencha, a provider of a mobile-application development tools optimized for HTML5, plans to create a global alliance program. Aimed at other technology vendors and business partners, such as systems integrators and independent software vendors, the program should help developers of mobile computing applications  more easily plug into a range of backend services, according to Landro.

To facilitate the creation of an ecosystem that would accomplish that goal, one of Landro’s first acts as CEO will be to start building an alliance program for channel partners.

After an extensive period of “wild west” mobile-application development, organizations are looking to solution providers to help them bring some order to the mobile computing chaos, according to Landro. Accomplishing that goal requires access to everything from mobile-device management and security services to access to sources of big data and mobile backend-as-a-service (MBaaS) environments.

All those requirements create a significant opportunity for solution providers. Most of the developers of mobile applications don’t have the technical wherewithal to manage the integration process. That creates demand for the services of solution providers that have been working on application integration for years.

Landro is finding that it’s far easier to accomplish that goal when all the relevant partners are playing in the same channel ecosystem.
