Selecting a portable device is becoming like something out of The Three Bears: this one is too small, this one is too big and this one is just right! Asus is hoping that the “just right” selection takes the form of their latest netbook, the$599 Eee PC 901.

The Eee PC 901 is a little bit smaller than some of the other Atom-powered netbooks on the market, which typically offer a 10-inch screen and near-full-size keyboard. Asus cuts things down to size by going with an 8.9-inch screen that’s full "Web-width" resolution and a keyboard that is about 25 percent smaller than a typical notebook computer.

With an overall size of 8.86 inches wide by 6.9 inches deep and a weight of just 2.43 lbs, the Eee PC 901 still packs in a great deal of features. Purchasers will find all of the typical bells and whistles found in larger, more expensive notebook systems. Here are the full specs:

  • Dimensions  8.6" x 6.9" x 0.89-1.54"
  • Weight  2.43 lbs
