Well-known security researcher Mikko Hypponen is back on Twitter after his account was suspended last week for a couple of days for including a link to a malicious Web site in a tweet.

Here’s the rub: The offensive tweet was published in August and Hypponen was given no notice that his account was suspended.

Hypponen, a researcher for Finland-based antivirus vendor F-Secure, wrote in his blog that Twitter provided the following explanation for the sudden double-secret suspension: “I’ve unsuspended your acct.; you were suspended for using the malware URL rnyspeceDOTcom in DMs; Be careful!; We scan evrythng for malware.”

The terrible Tweet was this simple message: “I guess somebody will fall for it…a desperate Myspace phishing site at www. rnyspece. com. (don’t go there).”
