Foxit has released version 2025.3 of its PDF Editor, positioning the update as a step forward in secure collaboration, compliance controls, and AI-assisted productivity for enterprise and government users.
New consent and transparency controls for collaboration
The Fremont, Calif.-based document software provider said the latest release reflects its broader strategy to balance intelligent automation with responsible data protection, particularly as organizations face growing regulatory scrutiny around document sharing and collaboration.
“This milestone release emphasizes our strategic vision to lead the industry in responsible data protection and secure, frictionless collaboration,” Evan Reiss, senior vice president of marketing at Foxit, said in a statement.
A central focus of Foxit PDF Editor v2025.3 is enhanced governance for shared document workflows. The update introduces new consent-collection and transparency features to give users clearer visibility into how their information is shared during collaboration.
When accessing shared documents, users are now presented with a region-specific consent prompt that explains how participant information may be visible to others. Invitations also include disclosures that names and email addresses could be shared, along with a direct link to Foxit’s privacy policy.
Foxit said consent activity is logged for audit purposes, capturing details such as user identity, timestamp, IP address, and the consent language shown. If a user declines consent, the system automatically anonymizes them within the shared environment.
These capabilities are designed to help organizations meet internal governance requirements and external regulatory obligations.
As we’ve covered throughout the year, compliance is becoming increasingly complex for channel partners and their customers worldwide, and Foxit is positioning its offerings as solutions.
Streamlined security for Microsoft-labeled documents
On Windows, Foxit PDF Editor 2025.3 adds deeper integration with Microsoft Sensitivity Labels and Azure Information Protection (AIP). The software now supports automatic authentication using a user’s existing single sign-on session, reducing the need to re-enter credentials when opening protected documents.
Administrators can manage this behavior centrally through registry settings or the Foxit Customization Wizard, which Foxit said improves consistency and reduces access issues in high-security environments.
The Windows release also introduces an option to automatically remove hidden information—such as metadata—when saving or closing documents, helping organizations protect sensitive internal details with minimal disruption.
Expanded AI and productivity features
Foxit continues to expand its AI capabilities in the 2025.3 release. New features include AI image generation from text prompts, expanded translation support covering nine additional languages, and the ability to export AI-generated answers directly to a Word document or PDF.
The update also enhances Foxit’s Smart Command mode, allowing users to perform everyday PDF tasks using natural language. In addition, Foxit added support for Dropbox Team Folders across Windows and macOS to simplify access to centrally managed content.
For Windows users, improvements to commenting and markup tools include reusable favorites, better compatibility with Bluebeam annotations, and the ability to export comments to CSV for audit or review workflows.
Foxit PDF Editor v2025.3 is available now for both Windows and macOS.
