Ingram Micro is expanding the AI capabilities of its Xvantage platform with an Integration Hub and Model Context Protocol (MCP) Server designed to make it easier for channel partners to connect AI assistants with business data, workflows, and existing IT systems.
The distributor says hundreds of partners worldwide are already using the Xvantage Integration (XI) Hub, including its secure MCP Server, to automate workflows and access business intelligence in real time.
Ingram Micro MCP Server brings AI into partner workflows
For Sanjib Sahoo, president of Ingram Micro’s Global Platform Group, the bigger shift is moving the channel beyond simply connecting applications.
“We are moving away from connecting systems to actually connecting intelligence and combining intelligence,” Sahoo told Channel Insider. He described integration friction as one of the channel’s longstanding challenges, particularly for smaller MSPs that may lack the resources to build and maintain extensive custom integrations.
The MCP Server gives partners a standardized way to connect their own AI assistants and agents with Xvantage rather than requiring them to use another standalone chatbot.
That distinction is important as AI increasingly moves from answering questions toward executing tasks, Sahoo said. Partners can use natural-language interactions to tap into Xvantage data and intelligence while connecting those capabilities with their own systems.
“We’re not building another chatbot. We are just connecting the technology ecosystem that we have built to the agent,” said Sahoo.
Smaller MSPs could benefit from simpler AI integrations
Ingram Micro says the approach provides real-time business data access, plug-and-play integrations, connectivity across the Xvantage API suite, and simplified access to complex APIs through conversational AI.
Sahoo said that capability could prove particularly useful for smaller partners that cannot make large investments in AI development.
“If they can quickly set up an AI agent … and actually get all the intelligence to plan their business, that is huge,” he said.
Early partners report significant workflow time savings
Ingram Micro is already pointing to measurable results among early adopters.
Matrix Integration estimates the XI Hub and MCP Server could save its team between 1,000 and 1,500 hours this year. IT Design Consulting, meanwhile, said an integrated quoting tool reduced a process that previously took hours — and sometimes days — to seconds.
For partners that have not yet explored the technology, Sahoo’s message is straightforward: start experimenting.
He said some partners have been able to establish connections in roughly an hour, lowering the barrier for MSPs that might otherwise view AI integration as technically or financially out of reach.

Ingram Micro envisions Xvantage as an intelligent operating system
The long-term goal goes beyond workflow efficiency. Sahoo sees Xvantage evolving into an “intelligent operating system” for the channel, where Ingram Micro, vendor, and partner intelligence can increasingly work together to drive decisions and business outcomes.
“The next era is not about connecting more systems,” he said. “Software drives intelligence, and intelligence will drive better operations.”
