Print
solutions specialist Xerox announced the launch of two tools aimed at boosting
the productivity of small to medium-size businesses, including a free mobile
print app, PrintBack, and a color multifunction printer, the WorkCentre 6015,
Xerox’s first WiFi-enabled device.

Starting
at $449, the WorkCentre 6015 is available worldwide through Xerox direct sales,
agents, resellers and dealers, while the PrintBack app is available as a free
download via Xerox’s Website, the Google Android Market and Apple’s App Store.

PrintBack
lets users access their Mac- or PC-connected printer through a Google Android
or Apple iOS-enabled device. A document, photo or Web page is sent via an open email
service—such as Gmail, Hotmail or the storage service Dropbox—from the mobile
device to the default printer. PrintBack, which is designed to work on any
manufacturer or network printer and MFP, can also directly print photos taken
on a smartphone or tablet, copy documents and photos from Dropbox to the
computer’s “Downloads” folder remotely, and keep print jobs at the computer
until released to avoid sensitive documents being out in the open.

The
WorkCentre 6015 desktop MFP combines print, copy, scan, fax and digital
workflow capabilities. The appliance shares the same print functionality as the
Xerox Phaser 6010 color printer—with print speeds as fast as 12 pages per
minute (ppm) for color and 15 ppm for black and white. It also features
plug-and-play setup and the ability to handle custom media and sizes, offers 1,200-by-2,400-dot-per-inch
(dpi) maximum print resolution and a Hi-Q LED print engine designed to consume
low energy and space and produce low levels of noise.

The
printer also features Pantone color calibrated solid-color simulations and
Xerox color correction technology to provide tools for matching the colors of
important business assets, such as company logos, a two-line LCD user interface
featuring a gauge that shows current toner levels, a 295MHz processor and 128MB
of standard memory.

Earlier
this year, the company unveiled FreeFlow Variable Information (VI) Suite—with
upgrades that make it possible for marketers to design, create and produce
personalized and customized documents. Features include VI Design Express, a
plug-in to Adobe InDesign that handles design creations such as programming of
personalized jobs, and VI eCompose, which creates PDF files of the finished
marketing piece so it can be viewed electronically.
