The new partner program replaces a more generic, Microsoft-centric program that StorMagic has revamped and turned into the new program that it announced just prior to the VMware Partner Exchange event, said Mike Stolz, vice president of sales and marketing at StorMagic.

The company is currently looking to expand the number of channel partners it works with, and it has an eye towards those with a focus on bringing value to virtualization rather than those who are trying to simply push product.

"The focus of areas that they’re going after is very important," Stolz said.

StorMagic’s SvSAN product is essentially a virtual storage appliance, and the company is looking for partners that are technology-oriented but also focused on bringing their customers’ costs down while also simplifying storage environments. That’s the company’s value, Stolz said.
