Lenovo is continuing to build out its server portfolio with the launch of ThinkServer TD200 and TD200x tower servers, and the RD210 and RD220 rack servers.
Aimed at the small- and medium-sized business (SMB) market with up to 5,000 employees, the new ThinkServer products follow on the announcement that Lenovo was entering the server market last September. Built based on the Intel Xeon 5500 Series processors, the new ThinkServers were designed to be up to three times faster than preceding servers.
They’ve also been outfitted with high-speed DDR3 memory that can be expanded up to 128GB, and there’s space for up to 12 hard drive bays in the rack models and up to 16 hard drive bays in the tower models. They come standard with an onboard connector for an embedded hypervisor. Select models provide a 30 per cent reduction in power usage compared with other x86 servers that do not meet the Energy Star for Servers 1.0 standard. Lenovo also stated the power supplies are more than 92 per cent efficient.
