D&H Distributing has announced it is implementing a series of programs, promotions and educational venues to help VARs capitalize on the new Microsoft Windows 7 launch, which is set for October of this year. The distributor’s offerings include an August Windows 7 Readiness Focus Month; a Microsoft Windows 7 Upgrade Option Program, which offers free Windows upgrade coupons for qualified Vista-based computing purchases; and two early-look Win 7 seminars with hands-on demo opportunities. The distributor says these resources will give resellers pre-launch advantages that will help them profit from the release.

“Windows 7 is a very strong product, and our customers are ready to sell it,” said Mary Campbell, vice president of marketing at D&H Distributing. “We are hearing them up to be ready.”

D&H is very bullish on the Windows launch on both the consumer and commercial side, notwithstanding the historically slow commercial takeup on a new OS at, and shortly after launch. Campbell said that’s because in the past, D&H has been successful in acquiring a disproportionate share of channel business at an OS launch.
