Avnet Partner Solutions this week inked a deal with Citrix Systems Inc. to bundle the software company’s enterprise solutions with IBM Corp. and Hewlett-Packard Co. hardware.

The partnership will give VARs and integrators that do business with the Tempe, Ariz.-based distributor a greater chance to expand their enterprise solutions portfolios, said company executives.

“It’s a good fit for us and our partners, and it complements our solutions focus around hardware, software and services,” said Jack Morris, vice president of business innovation at Avnet.

Under the new partnership, Avnet will bundle x86 server solutions that will now include Citrix technology and provide partners with the opportunity for additional product and service revenues.

“Avnet is an ideal company to help us strengthen our channel sales strategy,” said Bill Burley, area vice president of North American sales at Citrix, based in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., in a statement.

“They [Avnet] have a successful track record in building channels for complementary technologies, such as those from HP and IBM,” Burley said. “With their technical expertise, combined with their marketing services and vertical market approach, Avnet has the ability to drive growth for their partners, while providing end users with industry-leading, on-demand access technology.”

Avnet will begin offering its channel partners special training and technical service to help them understand the various Citrix solutions.

By teaming with Citrix, Avnet will also expand its portfolio of security solutions.
