Avnet Technology Solutions will add Motion Computing’s mobile and wireless devices to its product lineup, offering VARs a broad set of mobile computing products for their customers in healthcare vertical markets.

"This is a great fit because of Motion’s focus on mobility in the Healthcare space," said Michael Douglass, vice president of Avnet Technology Solutions’ Americas Mobility Solutions group.

Mike Stinson, Motion’s vice president of marketing, said that Motion Computing’s mobile computing products combined with Avnet’s HealthPath University program would offer great opportunities for channel partners whose customers needed solutions in the healthcare, mobility and network integration space

HealthPath University gives Avnet resellers training and support they need to gain experience and traction selling products and services into the healthcare space, and allows them to go on-site at a healthcare facility to experience firsthand how healthcare institutions operate and see exactly what the hardware, software and workflow needs of those customers are, said Douglass

Right now, Douglass said, Avnet had a couple hundred VARs participating in the HealthPath University program, and he said some of those VARs were focusing on "microverticals," such as mobile and wireless computing within the larger healthcare space. That area was a perfect fit for Motion Computing, since their main focus was mobile computing in the healthcare market

"The market focus is perfect for us. There’s a lot of integration opportunities for partners to combine the C5 tablet PC with hardware like mobile carts and software to create integrated solutions and get our products into the hands of partners," Stinson said.

Avnet will offer Motion’s LE1700 tablet PCs, the C5 tablet PC that includes an integrated bar code scanner, RFID reader and a digital camera, and the F5 semi-rugged tablet PC that offers mobile broadband and Bluetooth capabilities, and also includes a bar code scanner, RFID reader and a digital camera, said Douglass and Stinson.
