Platform provider for MSPs and IT professionals Syncro recently announced the appointment of Peter Gyenes as chairman of its board of directors– a move that comes on the heels of the company looking to expand its platform from MSPs to also support internal IT teams.

Gyenes takes the role of chairman after decades of leadership in tech

The industry veteran brings several decades of experience in leadership roles, having served as chairman, CEO, and independent director for several organizations, including Ascential Software, Informix, Sophos, Pegasystems, and RealPage.

The appointment is one of several strategic moves for the company in recent weeks. Syncro recently launched a version of its IT management platform designed specifically for internal IT departments. The platform will leverage AI and automation to increase IT teams’ efficiency while delivering comprehensive functionality, including endpoint management, AI-powered tools, automated ticketing, advanced scripting capabilities, and integrated remote access.

“Syncro is uniquely positioned to address the evolving needs of MSPs and IT professionals with its robust, comprehensive platform,” said Gyenes. “By simplifying IT management and streamlining operations, Syncro enables MSP and IT teams to automate workflows, reduce workloads, and focus on their customers to deliver meaningful results. I look forward to collaborating with the board and the exceptional Syncro team to advance our mission and long-term success.”

Upon announcing being named chairman, Channel Insider sat down with Gyenes to discuss the news and the path for the U.S.-based platform provider going forward.

Where Gyenes sees Syncro’s position in the market

According to Gyenes, Syncro is positioned to disrupt traditional IT vendors by providing integrated, comprehensive platform solutions that leverage AI to enhance automation and efficiency. Syncro aims to expand its platform from MSPs to internal IT, recognizing similar operational needs. Gyenes emphasizes the importance of being a good partner to MSPS and the benefits of offering platform-oriented solutions to both MSPs and IT shops.

“We think by having strong, platform-oriented solutions that we can offer to both MSPs and to the IT shops, it gives us more opportunity in the marketplace,” said Gyenes. “On the other hand, it also makes us a more attractive partner to MSPs– particularly those MSPs who are looking to grow themselves to be able to handle more and more customers.”

Gyenes says a key part of his role in meeting the goals of this strategic direction is supporting the management team and adding value to their thinking about strategy and their feelings about operationalizing that strategy.

“My modus operandi is going to be to work together with Michael George [CEO of Syncro], the management team, and the company team to participate in their strategic thinking, to work together with them to monitor feedback from customers in the marketplace, and make sure that we’re applying all of the best thinking to how we operationalize our strategy and how we evolve our strategy as we expand more into the marketplace,” said Gyenes.

The role of AI and future plans for Syncro

Gyenes understands the potential benefits of AI in enhancing automation and reducing labor costs. For Syncro, he says, there are two driving forces: one is to use AI to really enhance the automation of the particular operational activity being performed, and the other is the opportunity Syncro has for innovation in preempting issues and problems before they become significant.

“One of the things that’s impressed me as I’ve gotten to meet more people in the company is that this company has really put together a very powerful team in each of the relevant areas, specifically pertaining to this marketplace, but also AI expertise and AI technology in particular,” said Gyenes.

He adds: “I think over a period of time– and during the course of this year– there’ll be more actual examples of what I’m talking about being brought to market.”

In April, Gyenes expects Syncro to make a significant, transformative announcement that will bring new capabilities to the market.

“It will be of the sort that fits into this model of a new level of capability that is characterized by a platform that looks at the environment in a holistic way, that brings together all the different operational areas of the environment in such a fashion that it becomes much more simplified to manage, and also with a level of automation– and therefore a level of efficiency and effectiveness– that keeps increasing,” said Gyenes. “And that’s applicable to both an MSP environment and an IT environment.”

Going forward, Syncro remains committed to bringing talent together within the company and combining that with some significant new talent from outside the company to create a level of powerful innovation they believe will create robust innovation.
