Citrix Online this week added a member to its GoToAssist portfolio of online applications, a new remote monitoring and management service based on technology acquired with the purchase of Paglo Labs last month.

The newly minted GoToManage is an integrated, Web-based platform for monitoring, managing and supporting IT infrastructure, particularly within SMB-sized companies. GoToManage is essentially a SaaS-based RMM platform that can be deployed by MSPs and other technology consultants to remotely manage their customers’ IT environments.

The new service represents a nod to the channel not seen before from Citrix Online. Citrix Online’s other GoToAssist services, most notably online meeting service GoToMeeting, have historically been sold through the company’s direct sales force or online. With GoToManage, Citrix Online is looking to engage the channel in its go-to-market strategy, as well as provide the service as a platform for the broad MSP community, according to Elizabeth Cholawsky, vice president of products and client services for Citrix Online.

“[GoToManage] actually gives us an opportunity to work with some resellers and VARs that we were not able to work with closely before,” Cholawsky told Channel Insider. “Our other products do not provide a lot of opportunity to add more value, such as GoToMeeting, but in this space there is that opportunity.”

Cholawsky said the acquisition of Paglo Labs was sparked by a growing customer demand for unattended remote support of their IT environments. Recognizing this, the company eyed a third-party acquisition that would bring automated IT management and monitoring capabilities to complement the strengths that Citrix already owned in-house.

“We went out to look for best in class companies in this area and very quickly found Paglo,” she said. “The more we learned how they went to market, their philosophy and customer experience, it really matched Citrix Online.”

RMM is a table stakes technology for most MSPs today, with the field crowded with the likes of Level Platforms and Kaseya. On the SaaS side of the equation, Forrester Research is projecting the size of the market to reach $4 billion in 2013.
