Zyxel Communications, a provider of secure broadband networking, Internet connectivity, home entertainment and routing products, announced the availability of the NBG5715, a simultaneous dual-band, 450M-bps wireless-N router. Marketed as a premium model in Zyxel’s wireless-N series, the NBG5715 creates two separate, concurrent networks to double performance compared with a traditional router.

The NBG5715 is currently available from the company s authorized resellers and e-commerce partners at a suggested price of $250.

The concurrent network capability enables consumers to browse the Internet over the standard 2.4GHz band while high-bandwidth, low-latency activities, such as streaming Internet movies or playing lag-free games online, can be performed over the 5GHz band. The router also features two USB ports to accommodate sharing both a printer and a storage device over the network.

A design that incorporates three multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) antennas, the NBG5715 is capable of transfer rates up to 450M bps simultaneously on both 2.4GHz and 5GHz radio bands. The company said this design offers power users maximum flexibility in planning a high-performance home network and is also ideal for families with home offices who want to create separate business and home networks on different frequency bands.

Two built-in NetUSB ports allow users to share multiple peripheral devices, like storage, printers and scanners, over the home network. To help ensure reliable wall-to-wall wireless connectivity throughout the home, the NBG5715 applies SmartRange technology, which pinpoints wireless clients like laptops and tablets and transmits directly to them. Further enhanced with four Gigabit Ethernet ports, the NBG5715 offers consumers a variety of connectivity options. The NBG5715 also features a selection of security features and five VPN tunnels for home office users.
