Government and critical infrastructure security provider Everfox recently announced both the creation of an advisory board and the acquisition of cyber case management vendor Yakabod, Inc. Channel Insider spoke with Everfox Sean Berg to learn more about the recent moves and how Everfox approaches the critical security and network needs of its clients.
Advisory board adds deep expertise across US federal government IT needs
Everfox, previously known as Forcepoint Federal until its January 2024 carve-out, has created an advisory board tasked with providing feedback and guidance as the company continues to expand security services for its clients in government, defense, oil and gas, and other verticals. The new board consists of 11 individuals with prior experience across federal US agencies, military leadership, and private sector security roles.
“The individuals on this board, they specifically want to serve on an advisory board at Everfox because they believe in what we do, and see the success in what we provide,” Berg said.
Berg identified guidance on products and services and strategic business initiatives as two focus areas for the advisory board.
Yakabod, Inc goes from OEM partner to fully integrated team addition
The news of a newly created advisory board was quickly followed by the company’s announcement it had acquired Yakabod, Inc to address insider risk and cyber risk management broadly.
“Since our inception, we have focused on building high assurance security principles into our enterprise case management solution,” said Scott Ryser, co-founder and CEO of Yakabod, in a statement. “Our customers have benefited from our best-of-breed software solutions born out of the federal community that are purpose-built, validated, and tested in the most secure environments.”
“We have had a really strong relationship with Yakabod for the past few years, and we were already very successful in going to market with them,” Berg said. “Everything we saw from them, we liked. The acquisition means we’re going to move faster and deeper into this space.”
Data management, security among top priorities in 2025, with careful AI adoption to come
Berg said he is excited about the future of technology and Everfox’s role in enabling its clients to utilize technology, even as the threat landscape and niche needs of those clients continue to change.
“When you have the hardest challenges, you call us,” Berg said. “We’re in the middle of thinking about how government is operating at the edge. Our technology ends up being the vehicle for trust.”
Strong data management and classification systems are crucial to developing GenAI adoption cases, and many of Everfox’s clients already operate with complex data classification systems. Berg said that while his clients in government are expressing their interest in using GenAI, adoption must be carefully considered and planned with security top of mind.
“We are absolutely hearing interest from our clients in GenAI tools, but we manage very large data lakes and many of our clients have several tiers of classification they must migrate data between securely and efficiently,” Berg said. “When you have to do that at such a large scale, it gets, obviously, very complicated. But Everfox is a critical partner in enabling this technology to work for our clients.”
