NEW YORK, Jan 24 (Reuters)—Electronics distributor Avnet Inc said on Thursday quarterly profit rose, helped by its recent acquisitions and healthier sales in the Americas.

Net income for the fiscal second quarter rose to $142.2 million, or 93 cents per share, from $99.1 million, or 67 cents per share a year earlier.

Excluding items, it earned 89 cents per share.

Revenue climbed 22 percent to $4.75 billion.
