Ingram Micro said it has inked a deal to distribute ASUSTek Computer’s complete line of components and notebook computers, bringing higher-value offerings to system builders and integrators.

ASUS motherboards, barebones systems, graphic cards, optical disks and cooling products fill out Ingram Micro’s server, desktop, and notebook Build-to-Order linecard, and allow the distributor to play in the higher-value solution design space, said Tim Ament, vice president, Ingram Micro’s U.S. components division

"We had gaps in our product linecard that didn’t allow us to expand into integration services and solution design opportunities," Ament said, "We haven’t really competed in the higher-value area of the component space."

With the addition of ASUS components, system builders and integrators can now take advantage of many higher value opportunities, including solution design and integration

Ament said that the addition of ASUS components can help system builders and integrators go beyond hardware and component sales and create complete solutions around server consolidation and virtualization, hosted application environments, gaming solutions and digital signage.

"We can help integrators take components and build on top of them with design, integration and build to order services," he said.

Ingram Micro resellers also gain access to ASUS notebooks, which Ament said are rapidly gaining worldwide market share.  He said Ingram will support ASUS reseller programs such as the ASUS Partner Notebook Program which offers instant rebates to notebook resellers.

ASUS components and notebooks are available immediately through Ingram Micro’s Components Division.
