Hewlett-Packard Co. yanked Bruce Dahlgren, the former head of competitor Lexmark International Inc.’s Printing Solutions and Services unit this week to oversee enterprise sales in its Imaging and Printing Group.

Dahlgren was named HP’s senior vice president of IPG worldwide enterprise sales, a new position created to bring greater emphasis on “complete” printing and imaging solution opportunities at the vendor’s 1,500 largest accounts, the vendor said in a prepared statement.

In a lagging market for printer sales, HP has sought spurred business with full solution offerings, that promote their products, especially multifunction copiers and printers, as gateways to complete imaging and document management solutions, said Laura Blackmer, HP’s vice president of IPG, in a recent interview with The Channel Insider.

“Bruce has a deep understanding of vertical industries and a wealth of experience delivering printing solutions specifically tailored to meet the needs of enterprise customers,” said Vyomesh Joshi, executive vice president of IPG.

“His expertise driving solution-oriented sales combined with the world’s most extensive portfolio of printing solutions will help IPG achieve its goals moving forward.”

Dahlgren joins HP after six years at Lexmark, where he was responsible for leading the company’s most profitable business unit, the North America Printing Solutions and Services Division.

He also spent 15 years with AT&T Corp., NCR and Teradata, a division of NCR.
