F5 Networks named a new North American channel chief on Tuesday. Gary Abad will take the reins at the application delivery networking company, following his most recent position as vice president of Americas channel sales at Polycom.

Abad, a 20-year veteran in the technology industry, will report to Dean Darwin, vice president of worldwide channel sales at F5. Prior to his tenure at Polycom, Abad held sales management and business development at Novell and Symbol Technologies, which is now a part of Motorola.

F5 executives praised Abad’s leadership capabilities and track record in meeting revenue goals.

“As an experienced sales leader, [Abad] has the skill set necessary to develop and deliver channel initiatives that resonate with partner communities and customers alike,” Darwin said in a statement. “We have every confidence in his ability to lead our North America team, and we look forward to his contributions to F5’s worldwide channel objectives as well."
