EMC is unifying its IT management software solutions into the new Ionix family to better help its customers accelerate their migration from physical to virtual to– eventually–cloud infrastructures.

EMC Ionix is geared towards helping customers accelerate that migration and is the culmination of a five-year company strategy around IT management, said Jon Siegal, director of marketing at EMC Ionix. Ionix brings together four of EMC’s developed and acquired IT management solutions, but also establishes new integrations across the family for the management of physical and virtual infrastructures, he said.

"It’s coined from ‘keeping your eye on IT.’ Again, it’s a culmination of what we’ve been doing over several years. Most recently on the heels of our acquisition of Configuresoft … that really helped us round out our portfolio," Siegal said. In addition to the technologies acquired from Configuresoft, EMC Ionix also sports technologies developed and acquired by EMC like Smarts, nLayers, Voyence, Infra and ControlCenter.
