Westcon Group, which focuses on the networking, convergence, security and mobility market, has added Microsoft to its roster for the first time. The agreement applies only to the United States at this time. Through the deal, the two companies will focus on service-oriented offerings, which include unified communications, virtualization, Microsoft BPOS hosted services and security solutions integration.

Microsoft and Westcon had not previously had a relationship at all before this.

"With the evolution of virtualization and cloud computing, they became more attractive to us," said Anthony Daley, executive vice president, the Americas, Westcon Group. "At the same time, Microsoft also saw the way that we saw the market moving, and our practical experience of virtualization, and we became more attractive to them."
