Distribution giant Ingram Micro agreed to sell Alvaka’s MSP line through its reseller network; Faxcore is set to jumpstart channel with 50 percent to 70 percent discounts through December.

  • Ingram Micro to Sell Alvaka’s MSP Line Through its Reseller Network

Alvaka Networks, Inc. this week, inked a deal with distribution giant Ingram Micro, to sell its MSP (managed service provider) line through the distributor’s resellers.

The deal marks the first broad line offer to channel partners of Alvaka’s suite of performance monitoring applications that provide users a proactive approach to managed services, Ingram said Monday in a press release.

The suite includes AlvakaNet Performance Monitoring for servers and applications, storage and tape backup and firewall and network appliances management. Also in the suite is PatchWorX to monitor patch requirements for operating systems and applications and MailWorX to manage hosted e-mail, spam filtering and virus protection.

The Alvaka offering is the first addition to Ingram’s building MSP practice and a fine introduction to the solution set for VARs interested in providing MSP, but not prepared to build a practice around the technology, said Justin Crotty, vice president of channel marketing for Ingram.

“Many network integrators, VARs and tech services companies are working to move from the traditional reactionary onsite network support model to 24×7 proactive services that endeavor to predict and prevent issues before they have an impact,” said Rex Frank, chief technology officer at Alvaka, in a prepared statement.

“Managed services are the future and over the past decade we have shown that they reduce the risk, increase performance and minimize the overall cost of IT operations.”

Managed services have grown attractive to VARs because they provide a recurring revenue stream, Crotty said.

A recent IDC report on managed services estimated spending on the technology to increase reach $21.7 billion by 2007.

  • FaxCore Gives “Fast Start” to Newly Signed VARs

Partners of FaxCore Corporation, Inc., a fax server maker, will receive 50 percent to 70 percent discounts on the company’s modules until Dec. 31, the company announced this week.

“Get Started,” a limited-time offering to bring the Parker, Colo. company’s newest resellers up to speed fast and reward veterans, is designed to be a sales commission incentive for resellers to jumpstart sales of FaxCore’s Web-based fax and document management applications, said Max Schroeder, senior vice president of FaxCore, in a release Tuesday.

CiBan, Inc., Marlboro, N.J. a FaxCore partner, intends to offer steep discounts to its own customers to bump sales, said Paul Banco, CiBan’s vice president of sales.

FaxCore’s solution provides SMBs (small and midsize businesses) and enterprise businesses with a Web-based solution enabling users to send and receive faxes with the same convenience of e-mail.
