Dell will
host its first annual Storage Forum in Europe from Jan. 9-12 in London.
Officially named “Dell Storage Forum London 2012,” the convention will provide
customers and channel partners with a series of executive and technical
sessions plus hands-on access to the Dell Fluid Data architecture and the
entire storage portfolio, including the Compellent, EqualLogic, PowerVault and
DX Object Storage platforms.

Built from technologies
designed in the last decade, such as thin provisioning and automated tiering,
Dell created its Fluid Data architecture to help IT organizations efficiently
manage rapid data growth and constant change. This unique approach to data
storage is highlighted by the theme “Fluid by Design,” which was selected for
Dell Storage Forum events throughout 2012. Dell is attempting to address data
storage challenges by starting fresh, without legacy IP.

The European event follows Dell
Storage Forum Orlando in June 2011. The event serves as an open forum for
customers and channel partners to discuss key trends in the storage industry
and gain exclusive insight into Dell’s Fluid Data architecture strategy. Also
at the Forum, Dell will announce new solutions designed to enable efficient IT
by helping customers manage data through automation.

“This has been a milestone
year for Dell Storage. Eighty-four percent of Dell’s total storage business
came from Dell-owned storage IP, proving our commitment to provide customers
with modern storage architectures,” said Darren Thomas, vice president and
general manager of Dell Storage. “As businesses continue to struggle with
explosive data growth, we will continue to offer new storage solutions based on
open, flexible and intelligent architecture.”

The agenda for Dell Storage
Forum London incorporates feedback provided by customers and channel partners
at the previous event in Orlando. At the London event, attendees will have
access to executive plenary sessions hosted by Thomas, Stephen Murdoch, vice president
and general manager of public and large enterprises for Dell EMEA (Europe,
Middle East and Africa), and Greg Davis, vice president and general manager of
Dell global and commercial channels. Technical “deep dive” sessions and
hands-on labs will allow customers to test Dell Storage functionality.

The company said on-site
training and networking would also provide opportunities for conversations with
industry peers from storage experts to specialist channel resellers and
bloggers, as well as Dell’s technical experts. The forum, which will be
supported by Petabyte sponsors Commvault, Intel, Symantec, Brocade, Blue Coat,
Emulex, QLogic and Xsigo, will be followed by Dell Storage Forum Boston 2012,
which will be held at the Westin Boston Waterfront hotel in June 2012.
Registration for both Dell forums is currently open, the company noted.
