Data protection maker Cloakware is targeting its server-based data protection and password solutions at state and federal agencies with a new channel program for Government VARs.

Cloakware is recruiting VARs with government contacts that can add its CSPM (Cloakware Server Password Manager), which manages unattended application passwords and privileged account passwords, to their current server solution portfolio, the company announced May 23.

The company is positioning itself to capitalize on the spate of data security breaches that have plagued private businesses and government agencies in recent months, said Jeff Waxman, Cloakware’s chief executive officer in a prepared statement.

Most recently, the Department of Veterans Affairs said May 22 the personal information of up to 26.5 million veterans was swiped from an employee’s home.

“There is a significant need within the government market for a high-value, automated server password management application to protect citizens’ information,” Waxman said.

“This creates a substantial opportunity for channel partners to integrate Cloakware’s unique value-added solution into their portfolio of high value security offerings to their clients.”

The offering is designed to integrate in existing server solutions and would create new value and service opportunities for VARs already active in the market, he said.

The CSPM solution is designed to eliminate the common security vulnerability of hard-coded or embedded passwords in applications and scripts, according to the company.

It targets organizations with more than 200 servers and a lighter version, CSPM Express, covers organizations with 200 or fewer servers.

The Vienna, Va.-based vendor is hosting a meeting of interested government VARs June 1 in Tysons Corner, Va.
