Blue Mantis is flexing its muscles in the managed services space and growing its Northeast presence by scooping up not one, not two, but three Vermont MSPs. The group of companies was already working closely together on sales and marketing initiatives.

The three firms joining Blue Mantis—TELigence Partners, Brevin Systems, and Calkins Networks—are focused on IT, networking, telecommunications, and managed services. Each is headquartered in Vermont, and customers and employees are located throughout the Northeast and the greater U.S. The acquisition will bring nearly 200 new customers to Blue Mantis.

The mid-market is hungry for better carrier services and network security as companies rush to modernize their infrastructure, protect what they’ve built, and grab new business opportunities. The numbers tell the story – the U.S. telecoms market was worth a massive $468 billion in 2023 and is on track to hit $726 billion by 2030, according to Grand View Research.

Expanding service capabilities for mid-market needs

Blue Mantis is capitalizing on this trend with its recent acquisitions, beefing up its networking and carrier service capabilities. This means its mid-market clients can now slash costs while boosting security and efficiency through expanded offerings like SD-WAN, network solutions, voice and messaging, AI tools, 5G networks, and more comprehensive managed services.

The talent aspect is just as important as the technology—Blue Mantis has brought on board the leadership brains behind these companies: John King from TELigence Partners, Dan Brisson from Brevin Systems, and Derrick Calkins from Calkins Networks, strengthening their services and sales teams.

“The addition of TELigence Partners, Brevin Systems and Calkins Networks significantly enhances our carrier services and networking practice and unlocks an underserved, but growing market in major business hubs such as Albany, Buffalo, Burlington and Rochester, allowing Blue Mantis to further expand into the healthcare and higher education sectors,” said Josh Dinneen, CEO, Blue Mantis. “All three companies stood out for their customer-first attitudes, technical acumen and long-tenured client relationships. Blue Mantis’ clients, prospects and partners will benefit greatly from the exceptional value of the acquired firms’ expertise.”

Investors applaud strategic growth move

Mike Grady, partner at Recognize (Blue Mantis’ majority investor), emphasized how these acquisitions strengthen the company’s leadership position in networking and carrier services. He noted that this move comes “at a time where companies are struggling to manage distributed teams and technologies.” He expressed confidence that bringing these three companies into Blue Mantis will create both immediate impact and long-term value.

Rob Nicewicz of Abry Partners highlighted the strategic importance of this expansion, stating that “Blue Mantis is in a key position to help the demand for secure, efficient carrier and networking solutions in key industries such as healthcare, higher education and more.” He believes these acquisitions will create new opportunities for growth as Blue Mantis expands its technical capabilities to serve today’s “digitally-powered organizations.”
