Distributor Arrow Electronics extended its reach into Europe, completing Dec. 29 the $80 million acquisition of InTechnology’s distribution arm in the United Kingdom, Arrow announced.

The pick-up gives Melville, N.Y.-based Arrow a presence in the United Kingdom, Europe’s second largest IT market, where Arrow had previously been unrepresented and boosts it’s position as a security provider in Northern and Western Europe.

“The addition of InTechnology’s storage and security distribution business is a key strategic step towards our goal of becoming the preeminent provider of enterprise computing solutions in Europe,” stated Kurt Schoeffer, managing director of DNS, a Munich, Germany distributor Arrow purchased in October 2005, which will absorb InTechnology’s operations.

InTechnology Distribution, headquartered in Harrogate, England, has approximately 200 employees and is expected to exceed $400 million in 2006 serving the United Kingdom. The company is the largest distributor of Hewlett-Packard StorageWorks in Western Europe, according to HP.

Arrow purchased DNS, formerly DNSint.com, and 320 employees, for $157 million. The company, Arrow’s first European acquisition, distributes server, storage and security solutions in central, eastern and northern Europe, and claims to be the largest supplier of Sun Microsystems in the region, according to DNS records. DNS did $375 million in sales in 2005.
