Fewer than half of Australian organizations have integrated measures to proactively manage their climate risk. On the other hand, 70% of organizations see sustainability as an area for competitive advantage. These findings from Schneider Electric’s Sustainability Index for Australia, 2024, highlight an area where MSPs and other partners can add significant value to their clients.

The report also found 57% of organizations are planning on investing in energy management technologies over the next two years, and three in four organizations believe that technology and transformation are key to meeting their sustainability goals.

Digging deeper into the data from the report, the primary inhibitor to organizations moving forward with sustainability is a “lack of financial resources” (37%). However, close to that is a “lack of expertise on how to implement solutions” (31%), a “lack of dedicated personnel to drive adoption” (27%), and “difficulty in moving from strategy to action” (24%).

These are all areas where channel partners — particularly MSPs — can support their customers in overcoming the roadblocks.

The report also isolates investments in AI to be a particular area of opportunity for delivering sustainability. As noted by the report:

“Schneider Electric is seeing firsthand how transformative it can be for companies to access detailed data about energy and emissions through technology. However, data is only useful if companies can effectively interrogate it and draw insights about how to move forward.”

“AI is proving to be critical to this equation, allowing business leaders to gain insights from complex data sets across a range of operations, increasing efficiency and contributing to sustainability.”

As noted previously on Channel Insider, AI is another area where Australian organizations are heavily turning to their partners for support. While many partners are still struggling to get up to speed with AI themselves, those that have reached the point that they can assist their customers with AI will find areas such as sustainability a lucrative opportunity to deliver additional value.
