Global services provider Avanade has appointed a new Managing Director for its Australian business, just weeks after seeing its global leadership change hands.

Carla Ramchand joined Avanade in 2015 as its COO, and replaces Laura Malcolm, who has left the company after ten years in the role.

“This is an incredible opportunity, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to lead our Australian business, which is one of Avanade’s largest and most strategic markets globally,” Ramchand said in a statement.

“It is an exciting time to be stepping into this role as AI becomes more pervasive and develops at a rapid pace — creating significant economic opportunity for Australia.”

Avanade is well-known globally as a Microsoft specialist house and was selected as one of the first to test Microsoft’s AI play, Copilot. One of its newest solutions to the Australian market is Avanade X — a digital creative consultancy that heavily leverages Microsoft to provide clients with services that help improve customer and workplace experience, as well as shape digital products.

Ramchand’s promotion to lead the Australian business comes at a dynamic time for the company. Avanade also has a new global CEO, with Rodrigo Caserta taking the role on September 1 after the previous CEO, Pamela Maynard, left the company to join Microsoft as its Chief AI Transformation Officer for Microsoft Customer and Partner Solutions.

Caserta has himself been with Avanade for a decade, and was previously its Global Technology Business Group Lead.

Prior to joining Avanade, Ramchand held roles including the EGM for Cybersecurity at IBM, and Head of Business Development and Head of Networks, Applications, and Services Sales for Telstra’s Enterprise and Government Business.
