Veteran MSP, cloud partner and consultancy, Advent One, has a new CEO, with Jason Dixon promoted from within to take over the role being vacated by John Twine.

Twine, who has led the company for the past five years, will remain involved in the company as a non-executive director.

Dixon is relatively new to the company, joining in May of this year as its Strategy and Transformation Leader. This is his first channel role since a stint at Unisys from 2005-2009, and in the interim he has held roles with AWS and IBM – both Advent One vendor partners.

“My motivation for moving to Advent One was a desire to have more direct influence on the strategic direction of a locally-owned and headquartered organisation in the Australian market,” Dixon said in an interview with Channel Insider. “I’ll always be grateful for the knowledge and experience I gained working with such incredible people and customers at both previous organisations.”

Taking advantage of new opportunities

Dixon said that his initial priorities in his new role will be to continue Advent One’s journey of innovation across business operations, services, and the company’s people.

Recent blogs by the company highlight that, as with much of the channel, Advent One’s focus is on assisting organisations with the transformation of legacy systems and modernisation, grappling with cyber security challenges, and grappling with automation.

“We see competing requirements of managing existing technology and platforms coupled with mandates to innovate and drive cost efficiencies,” Dixon said. “We want to support our clients along every step of their journey towards achieving those outcomes.”

Dixon added that now is a particularly exciting time to be involved with technology, as it is a “make or break” matter for organisations as new services, products, insights, efficiency, and transformation drive change.

In the channel, that change is also resulting in an extended period of consolidation. As Dixon said, the trends that are driving the frenzy of acquisitions are clear, but with its 25 years of experience and a strong team and vision, Advent One is positioned well within the market.

“Every smart organisation recognises the need to innovate and that’s likely to be what’s behind acquisitions in the market,” he said.

“We’re already navigating this market dynamic. We have deep skills in the technology which is still driving most enterprise workloads. We also have (and continue to invest in) the skills to deliver new cloud-based technologies. Our team is very experienced at running technology services. We don’t approach clients from a pure cloud-based perspective, we work together with them to ensure the journey makes sense for them.

“We’ve been in business for 25 years. We are very clear on our direction and what we want to achieve in the market.”

Another recent senior executive appointment within the channel is Leonard Kleinman, Enablis’ new CISO – see his vision for the channel.
