full-time hiring revival is under way, with the number of job postings jumping
20 percent month over month while contract position listings remained flat.

“In order to add permanent staff, companies must have confidence in their
business outlook—and that’s exactly what we are starting to see,” said Tom
Silver, vice president of North America at Dice, in a
newsletter posting.

“And, there’s no doubt where companies are looking for the fresh talent: your
employees.”

Silver reports that more than two-thirds of employed IT pros have been
approached by headhunters at least once since the beginning of the year. And
those workers are ready to move, pointing to the desire for better career
opportunities and higher pay.

“While headhunters are circling, it appears that employers may be in the dark,”
Silver writes. “More than 53 percent of frustrated technology professionals say
they are not vocalizing their career issues with their current boss.”

What would make them stay? A pay raise of at least 5 percent, said 93 percent
of IT pros. And that’s what headhunters are using to lure workers away,
according to Dice.

Other incentives offered are better career opportunities and the opportunity to
work on new or emerging technologies. Dice reports that green technologies and
mobile applications are the fields capturing the strongest emerging interest
from IT pros.
