Technology spend and risk management vendor Flexera is expanding its AI Cost Management platform to help organizations track, govern, and optimize AI spending across cloud infrastructure and data platforms.

The expansion builds on existing capabilities for managing AI applications, models, agents, and workflows, giving MSPs and other IT service providers additional tools to help customers control rising AI costs and potentially develop recurring FinOps and AI spending advisory services.

Flexera extends AI cost management across cloud and data platforms

Flexera’s AI Cost Management platform was built natively on Flexera One to span the full AI stack, helping organizations understand, govern, and optimize AI-related spending wherever it occurs.

The expansion includes new autonomous capabilities in its Data Cloud Optimization and Workload Optimization offerings.

Autonomous agents continuously balance cost efficiency and performance, allowing engineers to focus on innovation.

Snowflake and Databricks automation expected by early 2027

Further, Flexera helps maintain cost efficiency and reliability in dynamic AI environments across clouds, containers, and data platforms such as Databricks and Snowflake. The Snowflake automation is scheduled for release by the end of 2026, with the Databricks automation in early 2027.

“AI is one of the fastest-growing areas of technology spend, with worldwide investment forecast estimated to rise 47% this year. Scaling AI responsibly will require far greater visibility, accountability, and financial discipline,” said Mike Jerich, President and CEO of Flexera.

“Flexera helps organizations understand, govern, and optimize spending across the full AI stack, from model consumption and AI-powered applications to the infrastructure and data platforms that power AI at scale, connecting growing costs to measurable business value,” Jerich continued.

Continued expansion of AI Cost Management

The latest additions by Flexera join its Token Cost Control as part of its full AI Cost Management solution.

Token Cost Control gives organizations visibility and accountability for AI spend across AI model APIs and SaaS applications, including which users and agents are driving it.

Token Cost Control allows organizations to:

  • See usage and cost for AI SaaS applications and model APIs
  • Identify users and agents who are driving AI spend
  • Allocate or charge back AI costs to those responsible for it
  • Analyze trusted data for AI cost governance and strategic decision-making

“Organizations are moving beyond AI experimentation into the realities of operating AI at scale,” said Trent Allgood, VP, ITAM & FinOps Consulting at SoftwareOne. “Through SoftwareOne’s work helping enterprises optimize technology investments and navigate digital transformation, we’re seeing growing demand for greater visibility into AI usage, costs, and business value.”

“Flexera’s focus on AI cost management reflects an important shift in the market as organizations look to apply the same financial discipline to AI investments that they’re established for cloud and software,” Allgood added.

AI spending visibility becomes a priority for service providers

For MSPs, systems integrators, and other channel partners, the expansion reflects a growing opportunity to help customers manage AI spending beyond initial deployment.

As Channel Insider recently reported, Flexera is also working with Revenium to improve visibility into AI usage and costs, part of a broader industry push to make AI financial management a repeatable service offering.

With businesses increasingly focused on demonstrating returns from AI investments, partners that can track consumption, optimize infrastructure costs, and connect spending to business outcomes could find new opportunities for ongoing FinOps and advisory services.
