Channel-focused security vendor CyberFOX today announced the addition of a new DNS filter offering to its portfolio. We spoke with CTO Andrew Bensinger ahead of the launch to learn more about why now was the right time to bring this to market.
DNS capabilities join password and access management solutions
The new solution has been years in the making, according to Bensinger, and was developed through several rounds of feedback from the company’s channel partners.
“We told our partners, this is your chance for a wishlist,” Bensinger said. “We made several changes throughout the process based on their feedback. There are always some ‘no duh’ moments where we go ‘how could we have forgotten that.’”
CyberFOX says its DNS filtering solution offers MSPs and enterprise IT teams the following:
- Advanced Threat Protection: Automatically blocks malware, ransomware, and phishing domains.
- Increased Productivity: Ability to control web access to eliminate distractions.
- Granular Policy Control: Customizable rules by location for clarity and scalability.
- Real-Time Reporting & Insights: Visibility into web activity for improved security and compliance.
- AI Pattern Recognition: Identifies and categorizes unknown malicious sites in real time.
- IPv6 Capability: Ensures scalability and compatibility with modern internet standards.
- Easy Deployment & Management: Get up and running in minutes with an intuitive dashboard.
“Cybersecurity threats are evolving faster than ever, and we’re committed to giving IT teams tools that stay one step ahead without adding complexity,” said David Bellini, CEO of CyberFOX, in a statement. “DNS Filtering represents our continued focus on making powerful cybersecurity accessible and affordable.”
Accessibility and affordability are paramount to the CyberFox team, according to Bensinger. To the company, security can’t be overcomplicated.
“The most effective solution is the one that people actually use,” Bensinger said.
Why DNS filtering is emerging as a crucial component of insurance and compliance plans
Bensinger says DNS filtering, generally speaking, has been somewhat forgotten or at least undervalued in light of the myriad other solutions on the market. To CyberFox, though, adding this to the portfolio is a crucial step in building proactive security stacks that keep attacks from occurring.
“A lot of the solutions out on the market address things after the fact, and we want to be on the other side of it, mitigating risk before it becomes a problem,” Bensinger said.
The statement released by CyberFox places this release within the context of “added pressure to adopt Zero Trust security models and meet stricter cyber insurance requirements,” emphasizing the need for MSPs and their clients to face modern security threats with modern security solutions.
Bensinger spent over a decade in the business of continuity and disaster recovery solutions, leveraging that experience to enhance the CyberFox portfolio.
“The last thing you ever want to do is invoke your recovery plan, even if it’s a good one,” he said. “By reducing the likelihood a leader has to do that, we are increasing the quality of life in the business.”
