Remote network and systems management software vendor N-Able
Technologies announced that enterprise software industry veteran Alan
Rottenberg has been appointed chairman of the company’s board of
directors.

Rottenberg held several senior management roles at Cognos, now owned
by IBM, from 1989 until 2002 including senior vice president roles in
marketing and business strategies, business intelligence and
applications. After his departure in 2002, he has been a strategic
adviser, board member and investor for several technology companies.

“We’ve reached an important milestone in our company history, with
more growth and success in 2010 than we ever thought possible,” said N-able CEO Gavin Garbutt, in a statement.

“We are thrilled by the opportunity to draw on the counsel of
such an experienced executive who understands what it takes to reach the
pinnacle of the software industry – someone who can help us manage our
growth while continuing to exceed our customers’ and partners’
expectations. That executive is Alan, and we are extremely delighted to
have him join our board and help guide N-able through its next phase of
growth.”

Rottenberg will take over as chairman from Rob Rose, director,
office strategy for IBM’s Business Intelligence and Performance
Management Segment.

“Rob has made significant contributions to N-able as chairman of
the board over the last five years, and we have been fortunate to have
him at the helm. We wish him continued success at IBM and thank him
sincerely for his service to N-able and our partners,” Garbutt said.
