Generative AI has entered the chat once again. Box and AWS are taking their partnership to the next level with a focus on bringing AI capabilities to their customers. The collaboration lets businesses tap into powerful AI models like Anthropic’s Claude and Amazon Titan directly through Box AI, the idea being to make it easier to build AI-powered applications using their existing Box content.

The integration also includes a new connection to Amazon Q Business, an AI assistant designed specifically for workplace tasks. This means companies can now use their Box-stored data to quickly generate content, get answers to questions, and create summaries – all while maintaining security and privacy.

Put simply, if you’re already using Box to manage your content, you can now leverage some of the most sophisticated AI tools available without having to move your data anywhere else. This partnership between Box and AWS’s parent company Amazon represents a significant step forward in making enterprise AI both practical and accessible.

Leadership weighs in on enterprise AI trust

Ben Kus, CTO at Box, says that enterprises today want to work with strategic tech companies that they can trust to be both accurate and secure when it comes to accelerating their business with AI.

“This is why we are partnering with AWS to integrate industry-leading AI models in Box AI and revolutionize the way organizations apply intelligence to their content,” said Kus. “This partnership will expand the value of Box’s Intelligent Content Cloud and put choice into the hands of Box’s customers, allowing enterprises to apply the AI models they know and love to the place where work is already getting done in Box.”

The point here is for businesses to be able to unlock the value of their data through AI. According to Vasi Philomin, AWS’s vice president of generative AI, the key is making it simple for companies to use their existing content.

“AWS and Box both recognize that the key for companies to realize the greatest value from generative AI is the ability to simply and securely leverage their own data and content.” He emphasizes that their collaboration will help customers tap into advanced AI models, ultimately “unlock[ing] innovation for industries, companies, and people around the world.”

Dan Rosenthal, vice president of global partnerships at Anthropic, points out that many organizations are sitting on untapped potential in their content libraries. He explains that “Claude’s advanced capabilities, combined with Box through Amazon Bedrock, enable organizations to transform how they work – from instantly extracting insights to automating complex document workflows.”

Rosenthal particularly emphasizes the security aspect, noting that since they “don’t train our generative models on prompts and outputs,” companies can confidently use Claude to transform their information while maintaining enterprise-grade security and accuracy.

Industry-specific AI applications

Financial services firms get better fraud detection and automated compliance checks, while media companies can streamline post-production with automated subtitling and editing suggestions. Law firms can speed up document review and contract analysis, and nonprofits can quickly process large volumes of reports and field data. In the life sciences sector, organizations can extract valuable insights from clinical research data to accelerate drug development.

This builds on Box and AWS’s decade-long partnership, which already includes Box Zones – a solution that helps companies store data in specific regions to meet compliance requirements while maintaining top-tier security and performance.

The new AI features are available now for Box Enterprise Plus customers through Box AI APIs, with Amazon Q Business users able to access the Box connector immediately. Interested users can learn more on the Box Blog or at BoxWorks in San Francisco this November.
