Toshiba’s Digital Products Division (DPD), a division of Toshiba America Information Systems, announced select Satellite C655D laptop models would feature AMD’s new E-Series Accelerated Processing Unit (APU) with on-die graphics1. Designed with price conscious buyers in mind, the new Satellite C655D offers an improved battery life rating. The notebook will be available on Jan. 23, 2010 at major retailers, e-tailers and direct from Toshiba starting at $398.99.

The notebook sports a durable Trax textured finish in black that helps resist fingerprints, and the Satellite C655D includes a variety of ports and storage and is equipped with built-in high-speed Wireless-N connectivity, a DVD SuperMulti drive, a multi-touch touch pad and a built-in Web cam.

The AMD’s new E-Series Accelerated Processing Unit (APU) on-die integrated graphics includes DirectX 11 support, bringing smoother graphics to users’ favorite casual games. Other features include a 15.6-inch diagonal HD TruBrite display and a 10-key keypad.

“The new AMD E Series APU brings a whole new level of performance and versatility into a full-size laptop over a netbook, giving families, students and home-based businesses the power they need to stay productive and entertained at very affordable prices,” said Carl Pinto, vice president of product development, Toshiba America’s digital products division. “Toshiba’s continued strategic relationship with industry leaders like AMD allows us to deliver more affordable PCs without sacrificing performance.”

The company also announced the launch of two netbooks, the mini NB505 and an update to the mini NB305, featuring enhanced styling and performance. The NB305 features a sturdy aluminum cover and the new Intel Atom N550 dual-core processor for an improvement over previous generation processors in power-efficiency. The 2.6 pound mini NB305 features a 250GB hard drive supported by Toshiba’s Hard Drive Impact Sensor, 1GB of DDR3 RAM3 and includes a USB 2.0 port with Sleep & Charge, which enables users to charge various devices even when the unit is turned off or in sleep mode.

The NB505 entry-level netbook, available in an array of colors, is topped with Toshiba’s new rubberized EasyGrip Finish on the cover for reducing fingerprints and a flat keyboard with black textured finish on the inside. Featuring the Intel Atom N455 processor, up to a 250GB hard drive and 1GB of DDR3 RAM, the netbook weighs in at 2.9 pounds. The mini NB505 ($299.99) and NB305 ($379.99) will be available on Jan. 9, 2010 at major retailers, e-tailers and direct from Toshiba.
